So down in Masterton is this beautiful little Glamping spot called Ica View Glamping. Masterton is a long 7.5 hour drive from Auckland but we just really wanted to experience this spot as it looked so perfect on the pictures. So we (well, not we, I) braved the long drive with plenty of snacks and coffees! Let me tell you it was completely worth it!
Despite it being absolutely freezing with a huge storm going on and more rain than I've ever seen, it was the most wonderful stay! A tiny little pod sat at the top of a hill, with the most incredible country views. We couldn't wait to get inside for two reasons.. One, how amazing the place looked and Two, the rain had soaked through our clothes so we couldn't wait to cozy up! The pod was tiny (just how I like it), it had a big comfy bed with a bedside table, and a small seating area. The glass doors facing the bed made it perfect to snuggle up and watch the storm. Ultimate cosiness - watching the storm from a warm bed! A few short steps away was the bathroom and kitchen area with everything you needed for an enjoyable stay. The other side of the pod sat the most gorgeous little outdoor tub! If you know me, you'll know how happy an outdoor bath makes me! It was a black, claw foot bathtub surrounded by plants and trees, perfect right?
During our stay we snuggled up and watched movies with lots of snacks, I also braved an outdoor bath in the rain, which was actually kinda nice! Alex, the host, came to meet us and to ask if there was anything we needed, he also mentioned that this was the most rain they had seen in his three years here. Lucky us right! Who doesn't love a moody setting though!? We had the best time even with all the rain, so imagine how good it would be with a clear sky? This place is a MUST for your New Zealand bucket list!
