Imagine a glorious, white, quaint little cottage with countryside views as far as you can see. Imagine a swing hanging from a tree with rope, a small room with charming, outdated decor, a little wooden bench popped alongside a metal table and chairs on the porch. Imagine traditional glass doors, floral bedding, a wooden rocking chair and pillars across the ceiling. Imagine the prettiest little fence with a gate that leads to the never-ending farm. You're imagining Thistle and Pine cottage.
If you're anything like me, you'll agree that animals are the cutest, fluffiest most beautiful things to walk the planet! So mixing animals with a staycation just hits the nail on the head for me. Here's how our time went. We were greeted, not only by the amazing host Karen, but also by her beautiful baby daughter and her border collie that never stops smiling! Karen is the most chatty, welcoming, fun host we've ever came across. She gave us information about the area and what's fun to do, whilst making us feel at home. She gave us a tour and introduced us to all of the animals on the property.. a dog, a cat, two cows, a pig, a horse and two fluffy chickens to be exact. She left us lots of carrots and told us we were free to roam the property and play with the animals.. talk about hitting the jackpot!
I can honestly say this has been one of my favourite experiences to date. I felt like I was in the English countryside sipping my cup of tea. The animals were always roaming around, each of them VERY friendly and the vibe was just right! We genuinely had the most wonderful time and will definitely be returning in the future. We had picnics, watched sunsets and sunrises, fed the animals, played with Renzo (the border collie) and just had the most epic few days! The perfect location, the perfect decor, the perfect host, the perfect animal friends, perfect everything!
